FINAL PROJECT: YASUNI HELP PAGE

9 12 2009

This page contains links to information about Yasuni National Park in Ecuador. One of the greatest Natural Reserves in the world. Home of hundreds of species, and abundant flora and fauna. Site of contemporary controversy due to the illegal oil drilling and logging.
Hope you spread the word,
thnx

Here’s the link to my Google Earth Project. Here are just a few of my favorite places in Ecuador, varying from very impressive mountains to beautiful beaches for relaxation. Of course, these are not all the places you have to visit once you’re there.

Urban Intervention Pasted

This is how the final vinyl cutout turned out, pasted in front the main entrance of ECU.

Hopefully it will serve its purpose, motivate people to become interested in this amazing piece of work by Alan Moore.

I chose this place because I liked the way these flowers add up to create a narrative, well, at least for people who are familiar with the novel. They pay direct tribute to the character The Comedian’s death, whose symbol inspired me to do this urban intervention.

Urban Intervention

This intervention has the intention of rending tribute to one of the greatest graphic novels of all time: The Watchmen, by Alan Moore. Hopefully, people will understand it and those who are not familiar eventually will take interest in doing so. Its political and drastically humane content is what I want people to understand and appreciate. I took advantage of the yellow in this post to symbolize one of the character’s (the Comedian) yellow smiley face button spilled with his own blood once killed.

I took these photos back in Ecuador on a beautiful summer afternoon. What I liked most about the scene was the beauty portrayed by these old trees and the way the light was hitting them.
There isn’t other intention other than showing the somewhat ephemeral beauty we can find in random locations. Personally, this image reminds me of home and how people leave behind scenarios that are worthy of attention or appreciation.
